3 Vessels on Fire
The Lifeboat was tasked by Brixham Coastguard to a number of boats on fire on The Salty.
The crew of the first vessel on fire were returning to Shaldon in a dinghy after moving the vessel to the mooring, when the fire was noticed and reported to Brixham Coastguard. The fire burnt through the mooring line and the vessel drifted free.
The Teignmouth Lifeboat 'Frank & Dorothy' an Atlantic 21 Inshore Lifeboat collected a Fireman from Fish Quay to assess the situation and then proceeded to the 3 casualties, 2 of which were moored, and to the drifting vessel which was emitting acrid smoke. The Exmouth All Weather Lifeboat was additionally tasked to the scene, and also the Harbour Master's launch which took Fireman with firefighting equipment to the casualties. The Teignmouth Lifeboat stood-by until it was confirmed that there were no lives in danger, and all fires had been extinguished.

Rip Tide

Rip Tide Chaos
The Lifeboat was launched at the request of the Deputy Launching Authority during a fierce rip tide on the Teign Estuary.

Prior to the incident a local fishing vessel lost control in the strong rip tide on the Shaldon side of the Teign Estuary, and collided overturning a moored vessel.

The Lifeboat was launched to a local 20ft motor-sailer caught by the rip tide, which then collided with several moored vessels and subsequently dismasted both herself and another yacht resulting in both vessels entangled in their damaged rigging, but preventing any further damage by the out-of-control casualty.

The 2 persons on board were recovered and taken to Shaldon. Due to the strong tide, the Lifeboat returned to Station at 19:50 and relaunched at 20:25 during slack water to recover the casualty from the other damaged vessel. The Lifeboat towed the casualty back to its mooring where the owner rejoined it. The Lifeboat then finally returned to Station at 21:05
