  Medical Evacuation at Coombe Cellars
Following an incident involving an elderly lady close to the rivers edge above Coombe Cellars (on the River Teign), Brixham Coastguard requested the Teignmouth RNLI lifeboat to assist the fire brigade and ambulance services.
The casualty who was in a position inaccessible to vehicles, but accessible from the water, had already been prepared on a stretcher and under medication for evacuation when the lifeboat arrived. She was quickly transferred by the volunteer lifeboat crew from the river's edge to the slipway at Coombe Cellars and then taken by ambulance to hospital.

The lifeboat returned to station at 23:10. The smaller lifeboat (XP32, 2.8m) was also taken to the scene and launched from on board the Atlantic 85 8.3m lifeboat (The Two Annes) but not used on this occasion.

  Person reported in the water
Brixham Coastguard tasked the Teignmouth lifeboat 'The Two Annes' to search for a person reported in the water between the Pier and the The Point. Weather conditions were not good following the gales, with a heavy swell close inshore, and the wind from the south F4-5, with some rain.
The search by the lifeboat was aided by shore crew on the beach using local car headlights from the car park, but it was established after about 10 minutes that the missing person was safe and well onshore.

Two persons in difficulties in River Teign
The Teignmouth lifeboat was launched at the request of Brixham Coastguard to go to the assistance of a 17ft Shetland fishing boat in difficulties close to river wall near the King George V playing fields. Wind gusts ofF10 (55kts) caused an anchor line to come adrift sweeping the boat with two persons on board against the wall. The force of the wind eventually drove the boat ashore where the two occupants landed safely - the lifeboat was then stood-down.

  Stood-By Injured Man
Brixham Coastguard requested the Teignmouth lifeboat to evacuate an injured 60 year-old man who had suffered serious leg and back injuries in a fall near Spray Point. Access to this part of the seawall is not possible for an ambulance to negotiate due to the narrow and twisty walk-way - evacuation by lifeboat being a quicker and easier option. On arrival at the scene of the incident the lifeboat paramedic went ashore to help the injured man and prepare him for evacuation by the lifeboat. However the HM Coastguard officer in charge of this operation decided to wait for the ambulance crew to reach the casualty by foot. With the lifeboat standing by, the injured man was recovered by the ambulance team and taken by stretcher to the waiting ambulance. The lifeboat returned to station at 22:31 and it was confirmed at that time that the injured man was on his way to hospital.

Four lives at risk on Teignmouth bar
A 14ft speedboat with three adults and one child onboard was observed by some lifeboat crew and members of the public leaving the shelter of the Teign estuary and going to sea. The speedboat was powered by a 40hp outboard engine which together with the number of people on board made the vessel low in the water - it was also noted that none of the people on the vessel were wearing life-jackets.

The sea state was poor and on a spring low water plus an easterly wind which usually produces poor conditions on the Bar - this was no exception and the speedboat was swamped and carried across the end part of the Bar. At this stage their engine stopped and they attempted to paddle to the shore, but the boat was already about 1/4mile out to sea.

Various observers from the sea front dialed 999 but the lifeboat crew were already preparing to launch and quickly reached the speedboat. The passengers were brought ashore and the child who was suffering from hypothermia was quickly warmed in the lifeboat station. The lifeboat then returned to the scene and recovered the speedboat and towed it to Gales Hill. HM Coastguard and the lifeboat crew offered advice to the boat owner and passengers on going to sea in such conditions.

  Search for jet-ski
Brixham Coastguard requested the launch of the Teignmouth lifeboat in answer to a 999 call for help from a personal water craft with 3 persons on board, who had broken down near the Parson & Clerk rock. There was some confusion over the location of the PWC as a passing vessel offered a tow which was accepted, but this information was not relayed to HM Coastguard. A 40 minute search of the area was called off when the PWC arrived at Gales Hill under tow.

  Capsized speedboat
Following a sighting by a crew member of a boat in difficulties near the Ness Beach, with an additional sighting by a member of the lifeboat management team, the Teignmouth lifeboat was immediately launched.
On arrival at Ness Beach, the previous occupants of the 16ft speedboat, who were now safely on the shore, were trying to hold the line to their capsized boat to prevent further damage. The lifeboat took the speedboat in tow, baled out the water and then towed the boat to Gales Hill, where she was reunited with her owners.

12 month baby with breathing difficulties evacuated from the beach
A 12 month baby boy, his mother and a paramedic were moved from the Ness Beach, Shaldon to the lifeboat station at the request of the Ambulance Service and the Coastguard.
The baby had stopped breathing whilst on the beach, and the paramedic team were unable to get their ambulance close enough because of the small tunnel entrance to Ness Beach.
The paramedics were able to restore the baby's breathing on the beach and requested the lifeboat to recover them all to the lifeboat station where the transfer to the ambulance would be easier - the baby and his mother were then taken to Torbay Hospital for further checks.

Inflatable boat - 3 persons in the water
Whilst the lifeboat was being cleaned and refueled from its previous service, a member of the public raised the alarm to 3 persons in the water off the Point. It appears that a child had fallen off an inflatable boat and that an adult had gone into the water to help and then the third person also entered the water - the ebb tide and offshore wind were very quickly taking all three out to sea. The lifeboat was able to launch to their aid very quickly and all three were returned to the beach and waiting Coastguard personnel who were able to offer safety advice on the use of inflatable craft.

  Two rescued from capsized kayak
Brixham Coastguard were alerted by members of the public to an upturned kayak with two people in the water, close to the Teignmouth Bar, and about 200 metre's off shore.

An adult and his 14 year-old cousin on holiday in Teignmouth, had previously been paddling their 3.5 metre 'Canadian style lake kayak' in the swell around the Bar, when a large wave swamped the kayak throwing the child and the adult into the water. Members of the volunteer lifeboat crew who had seen the kayak, were already making their way to the lifeboat station when the crew pagers sounded.

The local Coastguard Auxiliary also watching the incident fired a maroon and a flare to let the two in the water know that help was on the way.

The RNLI Atlantic 85 class lifeboat 'The Two Annes' was launched with Adam Truhol at the helm and with crewmen Will Burton, Kevin Clifton and Pete Shillabeer on board. The lifeboat reached the two kayakers in under two minutes and on arrival crewman Will Burton jumped into the water and supported the 14 year-old and then held on to the adult, while the other crew made ready to take them onboard the lifeboat. Will Burton's presence in the water ensured the fast recovery of the two who were now in a state of hyperthermic shock.

The lifeboat with the two kayakers wrapped in blankets, sped back to the station where the shore crew made them comfortable. An ambulance crew arrived soon after and pronounced them both OK. The kayakers were made hot drinks and they took warm shower in the crew room, whilst their families found them dry clothes.

Lifeboat crew find missing cliff climbers - amazing helicopter rescue

After completing a regular exercise evening, and with the lifeboat back on its trailer on the slipway, Brixham Coastguard asked for assistance in finding 4 people who were reported as missing on a cliff face near Anstys Cove, Babbacombe.

The Teignmouth RNLI lifeboat ‘The Two Annes’ was launched again with its volunteer crew at 21:16 and arrived at the bottom of the cliff some 7 minutes later. By this time the twilight was descending into night time and the crew scoured the cliffs for any sight of the missing climbers. Searchlights and illuminating flares on parachutes were used and eventually one climber was spotted, who then directed the searchlights to a rock further down the cliff where another climber was lying. By now, the shore-based coastguard team were arriving at the cliff top, where it was learned that two of the climbers had made there own way back to the cliff top.

The Teignmouth lifeboat crew of Jude Chilvers, Richard Boss, Paul Wright and Charlie Woolnough kept the lifeboat searchlights on the cliffs, and encouraged the two trapped climbers to keep calm whilst assuring them that help was on the way. The crew directed the coastguard team to where the two climbers were caught, but it was quickly apparent that the coastguard team would not be able to easily reach them from the cliff top because of the overhang, plus it became clear that one the climbers was injured and possibly in anaphylactic shock from a snake bite.

An RAF Rescue helicopter from Chivenor was scrambled for its 25 minute flight to Babbacombe. The lifeboat crew meanwhile maintained their re-assuring contact with the climbers until the arrival of the helicopter.

The RAF helicopter, with amazing flying skill flew below the overhanging cliff-top and feet away from the cliff-face and plucked the two from their precarious positions and took them to hospital.

The Coastguard having earlier requested help from any local vessel, asked for the assistance of the Teignmouth lifeboat to aid a 20ft motor cruiser with mechanical failure near to the Ness.
The locally based Fishing Protection rib 'Proteus' reported that they had taken in tow the motor cruiser with 4 persons on board.
On the way to the 'Proteus', the lifeboat stood-by another broken-down motor boat until they re-started their engine.
The tow was then transferred from 'Proteus' to the lifeboat and the broken down boat was taken to Polly Steps.

2.5 hr search for missing person
A local care home reported that one of their guests had gone missing earlier in the day, and as the missing person was thought to be at risk it was decided to request the launch of the Teignmouth RNLI lifeboat 'The Two Annes' to assist the search.

The three crew volunteers Charlie Woolnough, Richard Boss and Adam Truhol searched the coast line from Bundle Head to Spray Point and then extended the search to the coastline at Dawlish Warren. With nothing untoward found by any of the coast and sea rescue units, the search was called off at 17:15.

At around 19:00hrs the missing person was reported as being found 'alive and well' in Dawlish.

  Kayak reported in difficulties
The Teignmouth lifeboat 'The Two Annes' was launched at the request of Brixham Coastguard to help a person in a Kayak off The Ness in rough seas. The lifeboat arrived on scene to find that the person in the Kayak was unaware of the launch of the lifeboat to his aid, and also unaware of the dangerous situation he had put himself in.
The lifeboat crew advised the gentleman to return to the safety of the harbour and the River Teign, which he then did.
